The speaker shares their lifelong struggle with sex and love addiction, stemming from childhood trauma in a dysfunctional home and emotional neglect from their father, leading to escaping reality through fantasy and obsessive crushes. This pattern evolved into a continuous string of relationships, an inability to be single, marriage and divorce, and destructive behaviors like cheating, all driven by a desperate need for love and an addiction to the “high” of being in love. After getting sober from alcohol, they realized they had shifted their addiction to relationships, eventually seeking help in S.L.A.A. where they are learning to confront their self-destructive patterns, embrace a higher power, and find hope for recovery, despite the ongoing pain of withdrawal from a recent breakup.
