At the 20th anniversary of Alcoholic Anonymous in St. Louis in 1955, Bill offered a resolution for the general service conference to act for AA and succeed its cofounder. This resolution was adopted by thousands of members present at the convention. The declaration stated the fellowship had come of age and was ready to fully assume its three legacies: recovery, unity, and service.
